AGV Guard: Synchronized Safety for Hybrid Industrial Fleets

In the modern “Mixed-Fleet” warehouse, the greatest safety risk is the communication gap between human-operated forklifts and Autonomous Guided Vehicles (AGVs). The Teknect AGV Guard is a high-frequency Active RFID solution that creates a shared digital awareness layer, ensuring that man and machine operate in a synchronized, zero-collision environment. Unlike traditional camera or LiDAR-based systems that require a clear “Line-of-Sight,” the AGV Guard provides Non-Line-of-Sight (NLOS) detection. This ensures your operators are aware of AGV movements even through heavy racking, around 90-degree blind corners, and in high-noise zones where auditory warnings are ineffective.

Hybrid Safety Logic: Why RFID Redefines Proximity

Standard proximity sensors struggle with “Signal Noise” in complex layouts. The AGV Guard uses Active Signal Processing to manage high-density traffic without operational bottlenecks.

Non-Line-of-Sight Awareness

LiDAR and Vision AI cannot see through steel racks. Our Active RFID Base Stations identify tags through physical obstructions. This “X-Ray” awareness is the only reliable way to prevent high-speed collisions at blind T-junctions.

AI-Driven Signal Filtering

Our AI Signal Filter distinguishes between static equipment and moving AGVs. By focusing solely on the True Collision Path, we eliminate “Alarm Fatigue,” ensuring every alert represents a genuine hazard.

Adaptive Zone Calibration

Customize detection thresholds for specific aisle widths. This facilitates a Digital Right-of-Way, preventing the “Freezing” effect in autonomous fleets and maintaining Total Flow Velocity.

Strategic BUSINESS
IMPACT

Industrial Readiness & Compliance

  • OSHA & ANSI Compliance: Implement a digital safety trail that proves proactive risk mitigation during insurance audits and safety inspections.
  • Minimized Downtime: Avoid costly pauses in production caused by near-misses or manual “Right-of-Way” coordination.
  • Universal Retrofit: Seamless integration across major OEMs: Crown, Toyota, Hyster-Yale, Locus, and Seegrid.

    AGV Guard: Safety Intelligence FAQ

Q: How does the AGV Guard distinguish between a forklift and other warehouse equipment? The system utilizes Encrypted RFID Tagging. Every vehicle is assigned a unique digital ID. The receiver on the forklift filters out static metal objects or unrelated electronics, focusing exclusively on the “Handshake” signal from the approaching AGV. This ensures that alerts are 100% accurate and relevant to the operator’s immediate path.

Q: Can the AGV Guard system automatically slow down the vehicle, or is it just an alarm? It is a dual-stage system. At the “Warning Zone,” it triggers a visual and audible alert for the driver. If the vehicles continue to close the gap into the “Danger Zone,” the system can interface with the C-FMS 3.0 controller to initiate an autonomous slowdown, ensuring a safe stop even if the human operator fails to react.

Q: Is the system affected by metal racking or high-frequency warehouse noise? No. We utilize a specific frequency band designed for Industrial V2V Communication. Unlike standard Bluetooth or Wi-Fi which can “bounce” off metal racking, our RFID-based signal is engineered to penetrate warehouse infrastructure, providing a reliable safety envelope in the most complex internal layouts.

We have established a profound and revolutionary friendship with the engineering team of Teknect; in addition, we have witnessed and recognized their professional services. Teknect is a small and sophisticated technology R&D company, and all their highly professional and systematic products are related to forklifts. Meanwhile, they attach equal importance to both the user’s experience and their needs. For AB inbev, Teknect is the very supplier that we are willing to cooperate with and seek win-win results.

As a developer of intelligent forklift management systems, much of Teknect’s product design and R&D is achieved by collaborating with users. Its business philosophy is to consider the customer’s needs as the top priority, and to design the product in a way most customers would expect. No matter how challenging and difficult the design is, it should be continually developed and stuck to until it begins to create value for its users.

In the finished product warehouse, our forklifts are mainly 4-ton electric forklifts with double stations, which can maximize the efficiency of the bicycle operation. In many warehouses, the operation efficiency of the finished product forklift workers can reach 60 torches per hour. The use of trams is to maximize the cleanliness of the finished wine storage environment and ensure a good experience for consumers. In order to reduce the number of batteries used as much as possible and reduce the number of battery change operations, we have begun to trial lithium battery forklifts in a number of factories.

In the Budweiser beer warehouse, you can see a large number of various forklift models, some forklifts have even been used for more than ten years, some have just bought, some lithium tram, some diesel vehicles, showing a complex “diversity”. Due to the huge number of forklifts used in warehousing and distribution, it is inevitable to challenge the orderly operation of forklifts. Before the installation of forklift management system, forklift management is difficult to carry out centralized optimization.
